Elderflower Day – 09/06/2013

A really enjoyable Elderflower day! How lucky the elderflowers were out in time! A warm welcome, great food and drink, enjoyable company and the elderflower fritters were out of this world!
Jo Burchill-Collins

My favourite course so far. I think it was the fritters that made it! Hope to be back soon!

Really enjoyable day. Lovey cake to start with and wonderful elderflower fritters to finish off, with foraged salad etc for lunch – delicious. And we made great cordial to take home!

Fantastic day! Very interesting to learn about elderflower and even better to eat it in a delicious fritter! Thoroughly enjoyed it even though I was limited by my hopping a bit! Thank you.

Earlier Days

I had so much fun on my Elderfower Day with Pick It, Cook It. From the moment I arrived at the farm I felt welcomed by Carol and Louise. The day was packed full of activities as well as delicious homemade food, some of which we foraged for!

As well as picking elderfowers, making cordial and elderflower fritters we learnt so much about foraging in general. I was astounded at how much green stuff there is around that we can eat and the knowledge of our hosts was very impressive, we hardly took a step on our woodland walk without them pointing out something new.

I met lots of lovely people on the day and cannot wait to go picking and eating again! .... Ellie Hann

If you love fresh food and love the outdoors - it's the perfect day. It was informative, sociable, creative and a lot of fun. Our springtime group represented a wide age range, and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. There's something very satisfying about going from plant to plate without a great deal in between, and the food (both foraged and provided from the farm), eaten in the glow of an open fire as the sun went down, tasted delicious.

The Sussex countryside is beautiful, and family walks now have an added dimension - our eyes have been opened to what is all around us! .... Jennifer Hunt
